When I was nine, I went to College Gameday for the first time. All the students around me had signs and were head to toe in maize and blue. I had so much fun. My dad promised me that the next time College Gameday was in Ann Arbor, we would go again.
Last week, my dad told me that GameDay was going to be in Ann Arbor, again. I had a feeling that it was going to be there, because Notre Dame vs. Michigan is a great rivalry and this is the last time they will play each other in Ann Arbor. I was so excited!
On Saturday, I woke up at 6:00. I quickly got dressed and got in the car, so we could get to GameDay fast. When we got there, we ended up standing in about the same place as the time before - right in front on the side of the set.
|Because we got there early, I was able to get an awesome GameDay hard hat, which they only gave to spirited fans in the front row.|
A lot of funny things happened at GameDay. There were a lot of funny signs, trash talking Notre Dame. Also, there was a Coke Zero section that some students got to go in. When an Ohio State fan wanted to go in, everyone chanted "You drink Pepsi! You drink Pepsi!"
Here are a few things that happen behind-the-scenes:
-While the show was going on, I saw many camera people and crew preparing for the next segments. During commercials, there was a director who told us when to start cheering and when to be quiet.
-During the commercials, they play music to keep the energy going in the crowd.
-The host, Chris Fowler, also talked to the audience during breaks.
The biggest cheers were when Michigan Head Coach Brady Hoke came to the set for an interview and when former Michigan player and star of the show, Desmond Howard, came out onto the set.
At the end of every GameDay, Lee Corso, one of the analysts, makes a prediction of who he thinks will win with hats, costumes and sometimes live animals. Everybody in the audience had no idea who he was going to pick until the end of the show, when he chose Notre Dame. He put on a leprechaun hat and from out of nowhere he grabbed live chickens and put them on the desk (chickens because Brady Hoke said Notre Dame "chickened out" of the rivalry). All of the Michigan fans were booing. Later, we found out that his pick was wrong!
