I have been waiting for this weekend for two years. Catching Fire, the second book in the bestselling book series by Suzanne Collins is now a movie. All of my friends who saw it as soon as it came out said that it was awesome. I could not wait to see it! After seeing it today, here is my review of one of the most popular movies of the year. Spoiler alert: If you haven’t read or seen the original Hunger Games you may want to do before reading this post.
President Snow realizes that Katniss and Peeta’s love scene from the first Hunger Games could lead to rebellion. On the Victory Tour, riots break out and things start to get very chaotic. The president decides that he needs a plan to kill Katniss. The head gamemaker for the 75th Hunger Games decides to put past winners of the Hunger Games in the arena again. Will Katniss survive? What exactly does the gamemaker have in store for them in the arena? How will the country change forever? Watch the movie to find out!
One of my favorite parts of the movie was the outfits. Katniss (the main character) had a spectacular white wedding dress. When she spun around, she slowly transformed into a “mockingjay” (read the book or watch the movie to find out what a mockingjay is). One of the other main characters, Effie, had some hairstyles and dresses that were breathtaking.
The Capital, where the president and wealthy citizens live, has some really cool architecture. In the arena, there are many unique trees and animals. Whoever created the sets did a great job. Everything looks realistic!
How Good is the Movie?
Catching Fire was one of those movies that has great acting, cool scenery, and and an interesting plot. I never wondered “When is this movie going to be over?”
Even my mom liked it! She especially loved Katniss’s wedding dress.
Recommendations- What to do Before You See the Movie
1. Watch the first movie- If you don’t, you won’t really understand Catching Fire.
2. Read the Books- If the movies gave every detail, it would be 10 hours long! The script writer took out some stuff that was in the book. So I recommend reading it too.3. Watch the trailer- Not everyone likes every movie. Make sure that it sounds interesting to you.
